Need Help with first build
I want to use a case that I have left over after it was stripped to make my current desktop. I now want to build one myself, but I have a problem. I'm trying to find a motherboard that will fit in the case. The motherboard that was pulled from the case was a MSI 815EP Pro. Based on this information, is there a way to find a motherboard??
Any advice/suggestions are appreciated! |

That board is an ATX form factor board.
Any atx or micro-ATX board will fit. However if that is a Name Brand computer case, there can be problems with reusing it due to proprietary configurations. If you post what case it is someone can let you know about any issues you might run into reusing it.

It was the case that my Gateway computer came in. I noticed that with when I tried to fit my ASUS P4P800 motherboard in that the usb plugs and such did not line up properly. Is there anything I can do about that or am I just stuck with it?
Thanks |

The Gateway power supply probably won't be sufficient to power a modern build. If it had a i815 board in it, it's 20 pin with no P4 connector - most new boards use 24 pin and a P4 connector. If you can knock out the I/O shield, you CAN fit another board in there, most motherboards do come with a correct replacement I/O shield. By the time you mess with this and the proprietary front panel connector, you might as well just buy a new case with a proper power supply preinstalled.
