AMD or Pentium build

I am currently saving money so i can build my own machine to my likings. I have done little reading on intel and amd, not sure wich one has the best benifit for me. I want to make a media pc. I use CD/DVD programs to copy and burn. I would like to start from sratch with this one. fast performace, upgradable, and under $1000 for hardware (to start).

Under a grand for a media PC, I think I'd lean toward Intel. When you get into the higher priced dual core stuff, AMD holds the current advantage.

Intels are traditionally thought of as "multitaskers" while AMD's are primarily used for gaming (witht he exception of Dual-Core). However, it is just a 100% preference, there no real BIG advantage as to either having AMD or Intel.

Intels do very well in media processing too. Single core, advantage Intel here. Not earth shattering.
