After a few tests, i plugged everything in w/o the ATX12V power connecter (i think its for the CPU), works fine, then i turn it back off, now when i plug that in at last, its on for a few seconds then shuts down.

i dont understand why i would have to do that, its just the ATX12V connecter.
Edit: Could someone check for me if all this is compatible? lol. I believe it is, i checked. And would a 650W PSU make a difference if i didnt use all of it? Like if its to much Last edited by Elendil14555; 01-26-2006 at 05:19 PM. |

SOMETHING is causing it, and you have to strip it down to bare essentials to rule things out. If it does it with it on the bench in minimums, you have a bad power supply or motherboard - POSSIBLY a bad CPU. If it works on the bench, then start putting it back together a piece at a time and test it each step. That's how it works.
I'm going to be frank here. Coolmax does not have a good reputation. I don't care how many watts it is, if it's defective, it ain't gonna work. |

Looking at your parts list everything looks good except the power supply...it's the weakest link and I'd start there by replacing the CoolMax with something better.

ok, im gonna try and get another PSU and see if it works. If that is all, thx for the help. And would that be the problem with the ATX12V when i plug it in thats the problem? Is the cord u plug it in with bad?

Yes that is a possibility.
One thing to be sure to check is whether the CPU heatsink/fan unit is locked down securely. If it isn't it could be shutting down because of overheating.
