BIOS flashing
I want to flash my BIOS as I think that may solve some of my problems, I can boot the computer so I dont believe I need a bootable floppy.
Can someone please help me, I went to the ASUS website but there are so many files that I dont know what I need and even if I did I dont know what to do with the file. My mobo is ASUS 8N-E Thanks for any help |

It is safest using a bootable floppy, basic concept is having the flash file and flash utility on it. I believe Asus does have a method of flashing it in Windows though. If your manual doesn't cover this, start exploring the motherboard CD.

How often should you flash your BIOS? How can you tell what new version is out and what you have?

Only flash the bios if there's a good reason to (i.e. it fixes an issue that you are having). This is not something that needs to or should be done periodically.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. |
