Check Sum Error!!

Hi All,

All of a sudden switched my pc on today and got a 'checksum error'. Had a chat with some of my mates and they think it just needs a bios update. Is that so??. And if it is then whats the process? and is there a tutorial available for how to update bios?.

Thankyou everyone and any suggestions will be much appreciated.

How old is the computer?

Before you flash the BIOS (which is probably unnecessary), replace the motherboard battery.

It's probably older than that. Replace the motherboard battery.

No, you don't need to flash the BIOS. You will need to reset the system date and time and possibly a few other BIOS settings.

Hi think replacing battery sounds easier than flashing bios. LOL

I'll give it a go.

Try shutting down and starting the computer back up again.

If replacing the battery didn't fix the error, then the BIOS chip itself has probably has become faulty.
