Speaker/Sound Card Problem + Windows Problem

I have just finished a build and everthing seems pretty good except for some problems with the sound card and sometimes the system won't finish starting Windows.

1. Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit is the sound card I'm using with Logitech Surround Sound Dolby 5.1 Speakers, but I'm pretty sure the problem is the card because the speakers have worked before. I downloaded and installed all the latest drivers for it and also tested the speakers with all the different sound card settings I could find. The 3 wires from my speakers to the sound card are green, black, and orange and I have them in the correct inputs. Still totally silent (although the speakers do make a bump sound when the comp is turned on or off).

2. About half the time I turn the system on it will display the Windows XP loading screen but will never finish loading it, or it will simply go black after that screen but stay on as if normal. Sometimes the keyboard also will not work untill I get into the desktop (so at login screen I have to enter guest account first, then log off, then be able to type in my password to get to my account.)

Some system info:
ASUS A8N Premium
AMD 4200+
eVGA GeForce 7800GT
Seagate SATA 160GB

Check the motherboard manual to see if you have to disable the onboard sound to use a soundcard, and how to do it if needed.

What brand power supply are you using?

Does the motherboard have a 24 pin power connection? Does the power supply have a 24 pin power connector?

Have you tested the Seagate hard drive with the Seagate diagnostic tools yet?

I do need to test the HDD, I guess I forgot because I got it oem. The sound card did have a connector that looked like it could be power but I couldn't find anything coming from the PSU (Antec Smartpower 2.0) that would connect to it. Also I didn't think that was the problem because the system seems to detect it fine.
