Im being made to get a summer job this year.. and I figure ill have some money. so Ive been catching up on my pcness. by then a fx-60 and 7800gtx 512mb shoudn't be as expensive as they are now.
but I was just wondering, what kinda power supply do I need? besides a sli dual whatever one. Im mainly asking about watts? |

While you are obviously going to be wanting to build an UBER AWESOME Gaming PC, I would make one suggestions - There is no need for dual 7800gtx 512mb cards. Get one at the beginning, and when games later begin to require more video card power (in a year or more), purchase the second 7800gtx and add it in. I would recomend the Enermax 600 watt NoiseTaker, which I am currently using in an SLI rig, it is reliable, good quality, and hasn't failed me yet (7 months of use). By then, I would also expect AMDs M2 socket to be out and most of the kinks worked out. You might want to think of buying into the M2 technology, rather than 939... which 939 isn't going anywhere for a long time, it is likely that the FX 60 will be the most powerful 939 socket CPU - leaving no room for future upgradability.

The Enermax Liberty is a good PSU that comes to mind, also it is modular. With 22 Amps a piece for the 12v rails it should last awhile.

last time i checked the liberrty isnt sli certified. I agree with ryan, go for the enermax 600w or the ocz 600w sli psu (friend has this one, excellent psu). Another thing is dont just look at wattage. more often than not, these are overrated. stick with with reputable brands (wasnt sure if you knew already but wouldnt hurt to say it).

Though it is not SLI certified just yet, it can definatly hande 2 cards. Also it is crossfire certified.
And this is off of xoxide.com "Supports Dual Graphic card setups such as SLI and Crossfire" http://xoxide.com/enermax-liberty-620w-psu.html |

btw, I would like my psu to look decent and have modular connections and a fan control...
I Was looking at this. http://xoxide.com/thermaltake-twv500w-modular-psu.html I really like it.. and its really the best since the really good looking ones are all crap... and im not entirely convinced sli certification is all that.. i mean my psu isn't "nvidia certified" and it works fine anyway. |
