I built a computer with this:
ASUS a8n32 mb (fanless) AMD 3800 X2 Corsair Value select 2gig ram 2xEVGA 6600GT Video A-top Gladiator case (one side mesh) It was working yesterday, I loaded windows all the drivers and some other software. The MB was running about 2°C hot. This morning I hit the power button and nothing. The power LED on the MB was still lit and Some of the fan LED's would flicker when I hit the power button. I tore it all apart and rebuilt it outside the case. I get nothing when I try to short the power switch. Any ideas what happened? |

If you used the power supply that came with that case, that is a very likely suspect.

Exactly. I wouldn't trust an Aspire PSU. Ever.

You are exactly right. The new one is an Aspire, from Newegg. I plugged in the old one (don't know the brand and it's 20 pin) and the MB fired up. So my Aspire PSU is bad. I take it you aren't surprised. Anyway, the only store in town has Antec PSU. Any good? Can I run a 24 pin board with a 20 pin connector? |

Antec PSU's are excellent quality. Make sure you get a ATX 2.0 which will have a 24 pin connector. Iwouldn't try to run the mobo with a 20 pin. It needs the power made available from a 24 pin. You have a nice system, don't cheat it on power.

ANTEC is one of the good brands. If you have a 24 pin motherboard, you really need to get a 24 pin PSU to avoid problems.
