USB 2.0 issues

Am using a copied version of XP (naughty i know!). However, this refuses to recognize that I have USB 2.0 ports, and i continually get the old 'hi-speed USB connected to low-speed USB port etc...'. Was told I needed to download a later service pack for XP, but cannot as not authenticated online due to copied version of XP etc... Could download a copy, but have been told the vices of using SP2 etc, so unsure as to whether i should. Is there anyway around this?

Yes there is. Buy a legal copy and install SP2.
