I would go with a 74gb raptor, and 250WD. Unless you hav money to spend, I would just stick with te 74gb, you do have the combination of space with the 250gb 2nd drive.

Graphics card:
This your best bet: EVGA 7800GTX KO versions (490,1300) smokin' hot.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130237

or if you want cheaper
EVGA 7800GTX KO version (downclocked) still smokin'
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130254

xcruise looks cheap, go with the second one, it looks really nice.

*RETAIL cpu comes with a heatsink, thermal pad, and fan. If you don't want the pad, just scrape it off with a credit card and use artic silver 5, or artic silver ceramique.

hey there and welcome to PCMECH! first off, it doesnt matter which case you buy, dump the power supply it comes with. as for the price difference, you are the one who is going to be looking at the case everyday so it is your decision (if you ask me, i like the aspire). the psu you picked out is an excellent one. rule of thumb for shopping for power supplies: dont look at wattage first, look at brand first. the brand usually dictates the reliability of the unit. some examples of good psu mfg's are enermax, fsp, antec. good mobo chioce. either way, your x2 should be supported, whether out of the box or with a bios update. not too sure about that. ASUS is a great brand. i would get one 74gb raptor and a seagate as the 2nd drive (i love seagate, cant go wrong with 5 year mfg warranty either). the dvd burner is a good choice. i like nec and pioneer (i own one, hasnt burnt a coaster yet). i would definitely recommend getting a seperate dvd rom as your reader. this may or may not be true but i would think the laser in the burner would "wear out" faster if you use it as a reader too. for ram, i believe the xms series is aimed at overclockers. if you're not going to be overclocking, then value ram would be fine. i believe xfx is a decent brand but i would go for the evga simply because of their step-up plan. Plus its cheaper than the xfx (i assume you live in the states). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130254

i have one of the first evga 7800gtx and it runs great. i think that covers all your questions. if not just tell us. we are here to help.

EDIT: just realized that FireByyrd linked to the same vid card.

I agree with the above selections. However, unless you're absolutely set on the NVIDIA vid cards, I'd take a hard look at the new 1900XT (NOT the XTX). For about the same or less $$ than most GTX's, it is beating them handily in the benchmarks. If you ARE an NVIDIA fan, then by all means the 7800GTX is a great card. FWIW.

I like that case, I might get it for my own build if I do build something anytime soon. Also I think this case might be to your liking, about $40 cheaper.

This liteon burner would be a good choice, dual layer, lightscribe, and comes with Nero and PowerDVD.
Hard drive: the 16Mb cache on the Western Digital will make it noticably faster than the Seagate with the 8Mb cache.
Also you are likely to need a floppy drive at some point in the setup.
Case/psu; neither of the PSUs in those two cases are any good. That Antec is one of the best values on the market and is SLI certified. Get that and a case without a PSU.

Actually the case I mentioned has no psu, which is why its about 1/2 the price as the other one. Oh yeah, and that dvd burner is the same one I'm planning on getting

All I can afford right now, is one of those cards. I plan on getting one later to run in SLI mode.

Ya I just love the design of the NZXT case, and have read nothing but good reviews on newegg.com.
