Install SATA Extension Module? New Build
Hi, I've got a new PC nearly together and ran across something in the motherboard user manual I need clarification on. This is an ASUS A8N-E mobo. In the section on Serial ATA connectors, there is a note that says "See Appendix for instructions on how to install the Serial ATA extension module". But the manual has no Appendix. I think this has to do with the nVidia GeGorce4 Ultra chipset's support of 3Gb/s data transfer rate.
Any ideas what this "extension module" is? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra Socket 939 Athlon 64 x2 3800+ Crucial TWINX2048-3200C2 2GB Dual Channel Kit DDR400 XMS3200 184-pin DDR DIMM Cooler Master RC-531-SSN1 Centurion 531 (Silver) Mid Tower Antec SP500 500W PSU HDD Drive 0 (C on SATA Port 1Western Digital WD74GDRTL 74 GB Raptor 8MB 10,000RPM SATA I (150) O/S Photoshop temp files HDD Drive 1 (RAID 0 config) (D on SATA Ports 3 & 42 ea. I downloaded the manual and took a look and couldn't find another reference to the extension module either. Contact ASUS about it and see if they can tell you what it is.

That's for hooking up external SATA drives.
