Help!!!
i just built my first pc and turned it on and nothing happened. The power comes on the fans are blowing but there are no beeps, no signal for the display and I don't hear the computer trying to read the hard drive or the a drive. I don't know what the problem is or what to do next. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Go here: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409
and follow the steps. If you're still having problems, give us a list of the components in your computer and we'll see if maybe something might be incompatible and therefore causing your computer to not start up correctly. |

I had the same problem with the P5LD2 mobo recently with a Pentium D 920 processor. What your problem most likely is is that your mobo supports the processor but only with a BIOS update. Unless you have another LGA775 processor lying around (or in a friend's computer) you're going to need to get your BIOS flashed. If you're going the route of having your BIOS flashed you can get ASUS to flash it for free, but you have to pay shipping. If you want to do what I did and buy a new BIOS chip with the newest BIOS on it, go to http://helpdesk.asus.com/biosorder . The new chip will be $20 plus shipping. Then you'll need a PLCC chip extractor to pull the old chip out and put the new chip in. You can buy one from Radio Shack easily enough.
Hope this helps! |

I tried those steps, and that didn't work for me. I'll sent a message to ASUS requesting help with the problem. Hopefully they can tell me for sure if the problem is with the bios. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them. Thanks all.

No Beeps, No Post, No Display
I found the problem. A 12V power cable was not connected to the 8 pin connector on the motherboard that provides power to the CPU. Stupid mistake I know. I thought I'd post this for newbies like myself who don't know any better.
