I know you are on a tight budget - but here's my observations:
You do not need a CPU heatsink/fan - the retail boxed processor comes with a decent one. I would get a real PCI-E board and video card. For the money, the Asus A8N5X is a great board. See if you can squeeze a 6600GT PCI-E card into the budget. Again, for a modest cost increase, why not get a DVD burner instead of just the reader? The Thermaltake PSU is a bit shy on rail amperage and is not a true ATX 2.0 unit - look at the 450 watt XClio power supply. This should still keep you under $1100 and will be a worthwhile improvement over what you have. If you have to, to keep the cost down, go with just onboard audio for now - it isn't THAT bad and you can add a sound card later if you want when you get some more cash. If you can fit it in the budget, a 16Mb cache hard drive would give you bettter performance.
Agree about the power supply. That X-clio is nice or Antec has some cases similar to the one you chose with quality PSUs. About the RAM, once you decide on the motherboard go to the manufacturers website and check the list of compatible RAM there or use the configurator at corsair to be sure you get the right part number.

Looks like a good build. I agree with the motherboard comment though - Asus makes great boards, especially their A8N series

Ok, I'll take everyone's advice.
I decided I'll just use the heatsink/fan that comes with the CPU, get the ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard, the eVGA 128-A8-N350 Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card, the Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive, and the LITE-ON Black ATAPI/E-IDE DVD Burner With 5X DVD-RAM Write Model SHM-165P6S RTL. I'll wait a while to buy the sound card and just use the onboard audio. Will that be alright? That will keep me under $1100. Oh, and I can't find the 450 watt XClio power supply, it's not on newegg and I can't find it anywhere else either. Should I go with the 480 watt XClio power supply or wait until I can find the 450 watt?

You will be sorry. You are buying the wrong type video card. You need a pci-e
video card not a agp. |

Yes. You'll need to buy the PCI-Express version of the card, or it won't be compatible with your motherboard.

Looks like the 450 XClio is out of stock right now - the 480 is excellent but considerably more costly.
Here's a decent alternative that will keep the price down: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104953 |
