Hey. I'm about to build a new system. It will be used for some gaming, general microsoft office applications, music etc. I already have some 2.1 speakers (considering upgrading to surround) and a 17" CRT (considering upgrade to an LCD). Are these upgrades worth the cash? Here is my planned system list...
Mobo: DFI LanParty nF4 Ultra-D CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500 Video Card: His Excalibur X800 GTO IceQ II Turbo Cooling: ThermalTake Big Water SE CD/DVD Drive: LiteOn DVD RW, Sony DVD RAM: 1GB Dual Kingston Value PSU: Hiper Type R 480W Silver Case: ThermalTake Soprano Windowed Silver HDD: 200GB Seagate Barracuda OS: Windows XP Let me know what you think, i'm open to change. |

Personally, for a gaming rig, I'd save the money from going water cooling and invest in a better video card and upgrade the CPU to the 3700+, which is the best value from a cost/performance standpoint in the AMD line.

Thanks for the advice, i wasn't sure how much difference it would make if i went for the 3700. I'll look further into my choice of CPU. The reason for the watercooling is because i have real bad issues with sound, and air cooling just creates this constant annoying hum in my room.
What video card would you suggest with a budget of 170 pounds? |
