Choosing a budget video card
Hello all ...
I have ordered all the components for my new build except for the video card. My MB doesn't have a PCI-Express card so I'm limited to a 4X or 8X AGP. My system is never used for games it is solely for internet, e-mail, office applications and web design. In time I'd like to move up to a LCD monitor, but will be using a CRT for the time being. Newegg has these cards that I was looking at. Can anybody offer any insight or suggestions? Thanks a million! Jeff Last edited by tombstone; 02-14-2006 at 09:18 PM. |

Either one of those cards will work perfectly. You could probably go cheaper even if you're not doing anything graphics intensive. Maybe a Geforce FX5200 or Radeon 9250.

A radeon 9600 pro would be another good choice.
ATI cards tend to offer better graphic image over Nvidia cards, excluding Nvidia's later cards(6600 & onward) |

I wouldn't put a 6200 in a web design box.

do not choose a FX5200... experience lol not great, and try not to get any SE type models for ATI... not that great. a 9600 Pro (or XT lol)should do fine

A SE card is fine if you aren't gaming.
