Hoping for Help

Last night I received all my computer parts to rebuild a new computer.

I am using an ABIT AS8-V Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 865PE ATX Intel Motherboard and Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T Processor. I have a 500 power supply, radeon 9500 video card, 160 gig hard drive, and a cd/dvd-rw drive.

The system powers up for about 15 seconds- and nothing shows on the screen. It automatically powers back down after about 15 seconds. The fans are working, the power lights are lighting up.

Any possible suggestions for troubleshooting this problem would be most appreciated, as the manual and I have run out of ideas. Of course, the manual for this motherboard only gave the troubleshooting tip of resetting the CMOS (which I went ahead and did).

A very common issue with LGA 775 processors is failure to snap the 4 heatsink retention pins fully into the holes and lock them properly - this causes an overheat situation and the processor shuts itself down. This should be done with the motherboard out of the case as it requires considerable pressure and in the case, you will flex the board excessively.

Thank you for the advice and quick response.

I was able to attatch the fan and heatsink properly and securely into the motherboard. Unfortunately, I am still having the issue with not being able to boot up and nothing appears on my screen. I counted ten seconds of powered up time before it shuts itself down. Is there any other reason this problem may be happening?

Yes, I was able to read my post. I shall try to take out the unecessary parts that may be causing problems tonight and attempt to solve the problem. Thank you.
