USB 2.0 Problems with Asus P4P800E-Deluxe MB
I just built this system a month or so ago. It uses the above mentioned MB with an Intel P4 2.667 GHZ processor, a Geoforce MX5200 graphics card, 250GB WD SATA drive, 40GB WD IDE drive, 1 DVD/CD RW 1 CD drive.
The problem I'm having is that I "thought" the manual stated that all the USB ports are 2.0, and everything I plug into them says that they are only USB 1.1?? AFAIK, there are no drivers for the USB required for this MOBO using XP Home. Anybody know what I'm missing with this? Thanks, Dave |

I would suggest updating the motherboard bios and drivers from the Asus site. That may be the cause. One thing you should check is if there is an "Enhanced" USB host controller in the device manager.

Thanks,
I'll check the bios version when I get home tonight as well as report what the device manager states for the USB hos controller. I'm pretty sure when I bought the mobo it had an up to date bios. dave edit: Went to the Asus website and looked again at the drivers and it stated that I don't need any drivers for XP for USB 2.0 support assuming I'm running XP SP2 which I am, so I don't think it is a bios issue.
