Smile My first build... advice needed please

Hi everyone!

I would like to have a go at building my first PC.

I have already purchased the following:

Case http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=91831
Really pleased with this case looks superb!

My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-8I915G-MF http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=81420
This was recommended to me.

My CPU is Intel P4 550 3.4GHz http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63150
Got this from eBay brand new.

I intend to run 1GB RAM with two sticks of 512MB DDR400 probably Crucial or Corsair... any thoughts?

My next purchase will be the hard drive, I am looking at about 120GB SATA drive (I think) any advice here please?

I will be using the tutorial here at pcmech to build it, I hope it is good!

Anyway many thanks in advance.

I would be concerned about the power supply in that case. That board needs an ATX 2.0 spec unit with a 24 pin main ATX connector.

Either Crucial or Corsair will be fine.

I prefer Seagate hard drives.

I have now looked at the PSU in the case it is 400W with the 24 pin main ATX connector which fits the mobo, so no problems there.

Thanks

That case is made by icute, I've actually purchased one before. The PSU in that case is horrible, one of the worst I i have ever seen. Voltage readings showed 16v on the 12v rail, which is dangerous. If you do get that case, I would seriously recommend replacing the power supply.

The only quality units ebuyer stock are Antec and Hiper. Don't be tempted by their own brand - horrible quality also.

Consider 450w for those parts.

You may not need 450 watts - it all depends on what video card you are going to use. If you are just going to use the onboard video, 300 watts is plenty.
