OS questions, help
since im spending the last money i have on the hardware for my first build, i decided im going to run mandrake linux until i have enough money to buy windows....can you do this? i mean can you install windows after you have linux installed? also, what version of windows should i get if i decide to install it instead, because all the versions i saw said some version of windows as a requirement.
thanks for the help |

Running Windows on top of an existing Linux installation is no problem. The setup can be complicated though. So you need to do some Google research.

You certainly can install Windows after you have Linux installed. You can reformat and install it instead of Linux or you can setup a dual boot and have both.
When you are looking at Windows, grab an OEM copy of XP Home for around $90. I think you were looking at "Upgrade" versions of XP, they cost less because they upgrade from an existing install of an earlier version. Here is the version to get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16837102059

Oem
So if I were to get XP Home OEM, would it work on a NEW build?
or do I have to get the expensive one for a NEW build...? |

Yes, the OEM version will work on a new build. It will work on any build that meets the hardware requirements.
