Hey guys,
This is my first computer to build. I've worked on diffrent computer parts (eg. Motherboards, Hard Drives, Power supplies), but this is the first one I have built from scratch. The problem is that the computer won't got to Bios. When I turn the computer on, the HD and CD Drive get power. All of the system fans have power and my USB keyboard and mouse power on as well. The system will post and the monitor will display Intel Pentium 4 but right after that, it restarts and continues to go in that circle. If anyone has any idea of how to fix this please tell me. |

Try this There is a chance that your motherboard is shorting with the case... we have to elimate that possibilty first.

Didn't work
I took the motherboard out and just hooked up what it told me to with the same results. Since I'm not getting a ram error, and the ram works with my working pc, also I'm getting a display, do you think it might be a bad board?

Either a bad board, bad power supply, or incompatible processor. Got some specs?

Specs
The motherboard is a DFI 865PE-TAG with a 2.66Ghz Pentium 4 processor LGA 775 socket. I tested the power supply with one that I know works and the computer still restarts. The processor was the last part ordered so it could be that or the motherboard. I'm leaning towards the motherboard myself but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions about what it could be.

Which exact model processor? The 506 is not compatible with that motherboard. The only 2.66 GHz processor that's compatible is the Celeron D 330J.

Alas, a rookie mistake. Luckly I'm building other pc and will use the proccessor in another one that I know it will work in. Thanks guys, I remembered to check for ram support and completly forgot about the CPU. At least I won't do it again.
