Compatibility Problems
I have been researching alot for my first build (which is kind of a budget PC) and ive run into a problem concerning my case and PSU. Basically i just want to know if..

With your set up you really don't need a 500watt psu.
And don't buy socket 754 go for 939. A 3000+ 939 is about 40$ more. A 3200+ 939 cpu is about 50$ more. More options for future upgrades and just newer. but if you go with 939 you will need to look into a different mother board. |

The power supply will fit in the case. However, it's not suitable for that build for 2 reasons - it's only 20 pin, you need a 24 pin ATX 2.0 unit - and any 500 watt unit at that price is not likely to be a quality unit. I understand budget, but cheap power supplies can fail and take out other components when they do.
That may be a micro ATX motherboard, but it will fit in a full size ATX case - which would be a better way to go for cooling reasons - and future upgrade possibilities. I'd also look at a better motherboard - Asrock is a low end manufacturer. Socket 754 is also a dead end - try to justify a 939, you will be better off. If you do get a 754, make sure you get the Venice core, not the Newcastle. |
