Space issues: ABN SLI Premium/Antec 3000B Midtower
First off, thanks to any of you who helped me pick all the parts for my PC, I'm very happy with the price/performance ratio you helped me fine.
I just started putting everything together, and I'm ready to install the Motherboard into my PC. The mobo is a Asus ABN SLI Premium, and the case is an Antec SLK3000B MidTower. I'm having some trouble fitting everything inside the case, and on first inspection (I got the motherboard in, I got the stand-offs installed in what I THINK are the right places) but I can't get everything to line up. One problem that seems to crop up is that my purple (Printer port I think) port doesn't appear to line up in the correct position to fit out the back of the case, and I think there may be other alignment issues. Is this common or am I missing something? I haven't heard of a case having the holes (in the back of the case) in the wrong position for the mobo, but I'm new to this. If its common, should I just enlarge the holes in the back? And if so, what is the easiest tool for this? Let me know about any areas where I'm too vague and i'll provide more details. Thanks in advance. |

Your motherboard should have come with an I/O Shield, a small peice of aluminum with the correct holes punched out. You simply pop out the shield that is in the case, then pop in the new one. Motherboards are all configured differently, so the one in the case usually does not fit.
Once the new shield is in place, your board should fit it much more easily. Just go slowly and carefully.

I feel a little stupid, just before reading this post I picked the "Shield" off my carpet, I just tossed it aside originally....Makes sense I suppose, thanks a lot for the quick reply. I'm sure I'll be back when I hit the next snag
