Random Shut down

I assembled my compy and turned it on....it ran fine for a couple of minutes, even got to the XP install screen, then it powered down...I tried to turn it back on but it wouldnt go, I unpluged the power and pluged it back in and tried agiain. It turned on and after a couple of minutes shut down on me again.....I am running an Intel Pentium D with an appropriate mother board I got directly from Intel...I just hope its not overheating already......please help!

See if you can get into BIOS and look for temperature montioring. It might be under something like PC Health...

ok....I just heard the power supply "arching"...right at the external power connector...the lights and the fans flickered and the system when dead...the sound was like the power cable was loose......hrm..I was just sitting in the BIOS...and I couldnt find a heat meter...
