Exclamation Floppy drive MELTDOWN??

Ok, this is what happened. I installed a floppy drive that was in another computer. The first time I powered up the machine, I got a CPU fan error. So I immediately turned off the computer. I checked the connections, and everything seemed ok, so i powered up again. No CPU fan error this time, but when Windows came up, I got an Alert that my PSU fan wasn't operating. So I shut it down again. This time I put my hand near where the fan is, and I turned it on. Immediately I saw smoke coming from the floppy drive. I turned it off, panicking. I then noticed that the wires next to the floppy drive were melted. NOT a good situation (or smell). Could this just be the floppy dying out, or could it be the PSU? It's a 350 W FSP Power Supply.

Probably plugged the power plug upside down or got the plug off by a pin.

dangit... i thought i had plugged it in right... would it be ok to power up the system? the power supply wouldn't be the culprit, would it? the computer started acting up as soon as I put that other floppy in, so maybe that's it. could this have screwed up the PSU? i just don't wanna burn out any other components...

Unplug the power and data cables from the floppy and try a turn on. Depending on how long the unit was on and if the supply was a good brand will determine if other stuff is fried.

well it was only on for about 5 seconds... i think FSP is a good brand, but I'll try turning it on and post my results...

ok, i still haven't tried it yet... I'm afraid that I'll fry some of the other components... is this a possibility?
