Memory

I will be using an Intel motherboard- 955xbklkr. Would it make any difference to use 4 sticks of 512MB or 2 sticks of 1GB? The memory I ordered was 4- 512MB OCZ-240 pin DDR2 sdram 667 pc2 5400. Should I have any stability problems ?

Before I posted this question I went to the OCZ website last week. They did not have a compatibility menu for Intel motherboards on thier drop down menu.[ ? ] They finally answered my E-Mail a few days ago. They said to use thier Value pro series- 2-1GB sticks, and stated that the 4-512MB might cause instability. I thought this might be a sales pitch because the value pro series was higher priced. Any comments?

There is (or was) an issue with older nForce3 chipset motherboards not taking that well to having all slots in use, but that was even in AMD motherboards. I asked this same question about the board I'm planning to use. You should be fine with what you have. .

Why don't you go to the Intel website instead and look at their listings of tested compatible ram for the motherboard?

Yes, that was the first place I looked. I am a first time novice and the dimm charts were way over my head. I just could not understand them. My book and CD rom from this site are on order. I hope they will help me through this first build. I'm glad I came to this site. Thanks for your help
