I think I finally have it/ see any problems w/ this lineup?

Keep in mind I have an AGP card I pulled out of my Dell 8300 I will use. This new computer will be given to someone who doesn't play games. Just uses it for internet and processing. Might learn how to download and burn music.

See any conflicts? I was concerned that some Seagate SATA HD's say 150 and some say 3GB's. I hope that's not a compatibility issue with MB's that say they support SATA 150. ( I must be killin' you guys with my stupidity)

Thanks...one more time.

The parts are compatible. The SATA 3.0Gb HDD will just operate at 1.50Gb transfer speeds instead of 3.0Gb.

thanks cricket. Do you see anything that looks like a weak link in terms of quality and reliability?

The power supply in that case might not be a 24 pin unit. Spend another 10 bucks on a Sonata II and get a black burner and floppy.

Thanks GLC. I'm going to be giving this computer to my mom and she wanted the tower to match her existing monitor and keyboard (an old beige dell). I'm pretty sure I went into the manufacturer websites and the pin number matched but I'll re-check that to make sure.

Cricket

What components are needed and out there that optimize a hard drive with 3.0GB transfer speed? It seems like such a waste not to.

You will never notice the difference. Those are just maximum theoretical burst speeds of the interface.
