Question JetWay GTDual Mobo???

I am about to start my fourth build. It will be a bit different in that it will replace an old Dell 4100 that is currently being used as a file/print server on our LAN. I have enough parts and pieces around to really help and make it cheap (less expensive) . One piece is a new Sempron 64 2600+ processor and that of course leads me to socket 754 mobo’s. That would of course limit the upgradeability in the future. Then I saw this unusual JetWay mobo on Newegg. It the GTDual-STD-G that has both 754 and 939 sockets.

I have always used ASUS mobo’s so to say I’m reluctant is an understatement. Does anyone have any experience with this thing?

Yeah, I would be reluctant to use it as well. I don't see a huge need for both sockets - if your budget is limiting to you 754, you probably won't be upgrading it for a while anyways.

Jetway is a low tier manufacturer - I believe they are part of the PC Chips family.

If all you need is a file/print server, why not just keep the 4100 till it dies?

Thanks guys!!

I have pretty much taliked myself out of even going there. The existing file/print server has become a bit unstable and getting worse. Beside, I have another family member that could probably use it. Nothing worse than an unstable server!!!

You want stable for a server. The only way in my opinion with an AMD processor is an Asus board with a NForce chipset. Get the K8N-VM with the onboard video. If you already have a video card and want a full size board with no onboard video, there's the K8N and the K8N-E - and the K8N4-E Deluxe for PCI-Express.

glc,
I will get a K8N or K8N-E. Already have one of each and the nVIDIA nForce3 is a great RAID1 manager. And they are stable for sure!!

Thanks!!
