Help please, HDD question

Guys I need some help, here is my gear that I'm working with

Case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147001

Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131569

HD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822135106

DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827152058

The problem I ran into is; When I was building my computer (first time build) I was installing the Hard drive and noticed that there is no Ribbon cable output on the HD. I was just wondering if I could just hook it up with the SATA cable and not worry about the Ribbon cable that was provided.

I'm pretty confused....please help

Since that's an SATA drive, you want to use the thin SATA cable (one nice thing about SATA is the thin cables). The ribbon cables are for PATA, or IDE drives. Like your DVD Drive needs the ribbon cable.

I would be using the on board Sound for now, I guess i need to order an audio cable

I believe you only need the audio cable for older versions of Windows. With XP, you don't need it.

IMO, you may not even need that CD-ROM audio cable at all. Most modern systems and software audio players, channel the audio straight through the IDE ribbon cable. From what ive heard, those cables were used for older players (Windows 98/95 days, I believe)

Just make sure you have digital audio enabled in the drive's properties - then you won't need the audio cable.
