Trouble installing Windows XP

Heres the situation. I'm helping a friend out with his emachine. He had fried the hard drive and dropped the computer on the floor smashing his power supply. What I did so far is to buy an atx case and brand new ASUS mobo. Everything was going fine util I tried installing the OS. It formats the drive and creates a partition for the OS but when it restarts after installing some of the files, it simply comes back to the "Windows XP Home Edition" setup and starts the process all over, just to have the same thing happen. The only thing I have plugged in is the hard drive and a dvd rom drive.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? You guys here have helped me a lot recently and hopefully you guys wont let me down this time either.

Thanks.

When the system restarts, try removing the XP Cd from the drive. It might be that the system is attempting to boot from the CD a second time, when it needs to boot from the Hard Drive to continue installation.

You can re-insert the CD when you sucessfully proceeed to the next setup stage.
