Welcome to PC Mechanic!

Follow the instructions in this thread:

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409

It's an out of case build, with the minimum of components. See if you can get a display using this method.

Another common cause of no display is forgetting to connect the 4-pin 12v power connector to the motherboard, in addition to the main connector.

Please also post full system specs, including brand and wattage of your power supply.

Glad you got it sorted!

Windows CD next, you need to boot the system and go into the BIOS, changing the boot order so that your CD-ROM drive is listed before the Hard Drive. Save changes and reboot, with the CD in the drive, and the windows install will walk you through the process.

Thanks FK. Now I can't get into CMOS. I get PXE-E61 Media test failure check cable. Is this the graphics card?

That's the network card. It has gotten past the CMOS part and is trying to boot. The time window to get into your BIOS is very short -- your monitor may not be completely on when you need to press the key. Try pressing F1, F2 and Delete every second or so until the BIOS comes up.

Intel bios access is F2. You have to be VERY quick. If you have to, you can use the configuration jumper on the motherboard to force it into the configuration.

Good morning. I am able to get into the system setup and I believe I have the boot order configured correctly but I am still no able to boot. The system setup menu looks like
Main Advanced Security Power Boot Exit
Under the Boot category I now have
Boot Manual Type Normal
Boot Device Priority cd/dcd-rom drive
Floppy
Hard Disk
Ethernet

However I think only one cd drive is being recognized. I have two. Lite on CDRW and a lite on DVDRW.

I think once I can get booted up I'll be in good shape. All of the help has been really wonderful so far and I really appreciate it.

Disconnect one of the optical drives for now and then hook it back up after you get Windows installed.

Make sure the optical drives are jumpered properly. If the IDE cable is a 80 wire cable, set the optical drive jumpers to CS. If the IDE cable is a 40 wire cable, use the master or slave jumper positions.

Boy you guys are incredibly helpful and I really appreciate it. I have four more problems/questions now that XP is loaded.

My promary hard drive WD 200 SATA 2 is not being recognized. I have a Intel BOXD945PSNLK 945P 775 motherboard

How do I reconnect the CD Drive?

Do I now need to install the drivers? If I do, do I simply put the cd in a drive?

Do I reconfigure the BIOS so it boots from the hard drive?

Thanks again.

Now I really screwed up. I thought it would be a good idea to reconnect the hard drive and cd drive but I didn't turn off the unit. Help.

Ok, I've got most of my problems resolved except my CDRW and DVDRW drives. There is an I/O problem with the CDRW and the DVDRW is not even recognised although it was earlier.
