First time builder, need some mobo info.

Hi,

Im building my first PC soon, just doing some research before i buy anything. Now, ive been looking at this motherboard:

Asus A8N-SLI SE Socket 939 Nvidia NF4 SLI ATX - Sound, Giga Lan USB 2.0 1000MHz FSB SATA

I know some others in the line have had a few issues, but im not sure if this has the same issues? Ive read about some problems with Asus boards recognising SATA drives, and i just want to make sure there will be no problems or anything. Im planning on getting a 300gb Maxtor HDD, will i run into any problems?

Thanks in advance.

Maxtor and NF4 boards have issues. There is a compatibility problem with the DiamondMax 10 and 11.
There's a firmware patch out that fixes the issue but it has a bad effect on the drives' perfomance, speedwise..
Get a Seagate or Western Digital and let Maxtor solve the problem without your in put.
