Trouble setting up friends pc help!
Hey all
Once again my friends PC is having trouble. He gave me his pc when it wasn't booting. So I cleaned out his case... took apart everything... built it outside of the case and it POSTs. Good. So then I was trying to install windows. I deleted the old partition and started over new. But for some weird reason... whenever windows was trying to copy setup files... it always has files it can't read. I've tried 4 different Windows XP Home disks at this point... and I get the same result with each one. Then, during the installation I got a BSOD with this error: "Page fault in non paged Area" Stop 0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFFC, 0x00000001, 0x808AF54F, 0x00000000" (Someone told me it could be faulty RAM or outdated BIOS) I tried memtest 86 (i think thats what it is called) off a utility disk... but no success.. Another weird thing is that sometimes when you start up the PC it claims that the CPU frequency has been changed and to save the settings. Also, we have the floppy disconnected but the computer starts beeping in a fast succession and it mentions something about Bios Checksum Error... We don't have the floppy set to be a boot device... Here are his specs: Abit AA8xe Intel P4 3.0ghz w/ HT 80gb WD SATA HD Floppy 16x Pioneer DVD Drive 52x(i think) Lite On CD Burner 1gb Micron DDR 400 RAM Sapphire x600 Pci-e video card Antec 400watt PSU Any ideas on this one? When I take it apart is posts... And it starts messing up with not finding certain files on the Windows CD then it eventually gives me that BSOD everytime.... Let me know if you need any more details thanks!! |

Try replacing the motherboard battery.
