Need Help with my first PC Build

I am new at this Forum. I am going to order my pc over the weekend, and would like to make sure if I need to change or add anything. I know I would need you guys for help before I spend that much money. The usage of the PC will be a moderate Gaming and DVD ripping.

Specs

Antec P160w Aluminum Mid Tower. See through side window with 2 120mm Fans.
I am trying to deciding on which mobo i should go with.
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nVIDIA. OR DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939.
amd 4400+ TOLEDO
Evga 256-P2-N516 Geforce 7800GT 256 PCI-E Video Card
Antec TPII550 550W Power Supply
Corsair TwinX2048-3200 Memory
Seagate 400 GB 16M H.D
Lite ON SHW DVD Duel Layer

Win XP Pro

Total cost around $1663 with Asus A8N32 Mobo.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Thank you.

If you are going to run it stock, get the Asus. If you are going to overclock, get the DFI.

You can go with the non-SLI version of the Asus board if you don't need the option and save a few bucks there.

If you don't plan to OC, then you can get Corsair Value Select RAM instead of the modules listed, its will be cheaper.

Thank you all for the info.
This is for glc, I am not into overclocking now. But what if i wanted to do that later on. Is the asus not good for overclocking?
And for the SLI mobo and the memory I want to keep an option for future upgrade.
Other than that Do you think that the system will be good?
Thanks again.

It isn't really that Asus boards don't overclock, it's that DFIs do it better and hae more features for it. On the other side of the coin, Asus boards you can pretty much set most of the settings to "auto" and you have fairly well running computer from the start, while there really isn't a "stock" DFI motherboard. They don't seem to work that well just out of the box. You can do a great computer with DFI, but you have to play with the settings and get them right before it's going to run well.

I for one as a gamer love fiddling around with settings on mobos (or any performance settings for that matter) and I would rather have a mobo with loads of customization rather than one that 'just worked'. Thats just me though.

Everything else looks good. You might want to throw a floppy drive on the list, can be usefull for updates and troubleshooting.

So do I. I was simply pointing out the benefits of both brands. Some people might assume anything retail should just work, and that you don't have to fiddle for futz with it if you don't want to. Considering that isn't the case I thought I should point out both points of view.

Yes there is two sides, I could fiddle around with my settings for england but my dad would probably rather have something that just plugged in and worked with no hassle.

I really appreciate all the of feed back. Guess I will have to go with DFI Mobo for the challenge then.
Ok is the Mobo that I have put up there is good then?
This should be the last question hopefully for this subject.

And thanks all again.

The Ultra-D should be fine, but switch the RAM to the OCZ brand if you go DFI since their boards don't seem to play nice with Corsair very often. You should probobly head over to www.dfi-street.com since going DFI means a bit of specal research just to make sure everything is going to work together.

I noticed you said order the stuff over the weekend. I am not sure how long you have been looking around and how much you know, but I would take atleast a month to figure out exactly what i want. I realize how hard that may be, but what if you get ur system and a week after you built it you already wnat to upgrade. I just built my first comp and took some advice off a friend who told me to be patient. I did a ton of research over a two month spand. I can't tell you how many times i changed my final list until well it was final list. THere is so much to look at and leanr about that you might as well do it now before you spend your money. THat is if you just started looking into geting a comp recently. I wouldn't recoommend buying the parts so soon. Take your time, ask and re-ask questions on the forum. I think most people would agree not to rush into it just yet. Go to extremetech.com and go to the build it section. Has some ideas on gaming rigs ect. Also you dont' really need the 550 watt power supply. Unless that is if you plan on getting two video cards for SLI. I would recommend the antec sonata 11. It comes with a 450 watt power supply. Don't know how much you plan on upgrading but i would ventor to say that is enough power.Less money too! I would take that extra money and get a SATA dvd drive like the plextor i have. Or get a gtx instead of gt.
