Can't load OS
I’m back….’why did I know I would be’
Xp – Pro is in my CD rom drive and when I try to boot \ load my OS these are the messages I am receiving. First screen flicks by quick though I have read these two messages on it…… PXE61 Media Test Failure – Check Cable. Exiting PXE Rom Next screen, “Boot failure” Reboot and select the proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device press any key when ready. The system seems locked, the green access light on the Plextor with the OS disc in it is locked on. At this point all I can do is hit my reset on the tower. (Hitting keyboard keys does nothing and I cannot open the DVD drives) I have selected my new Plextor PX-740A as the first boot device in my bios. I have two of these exact same model Plextor DVD burners installed, with both drive jumpers set on Master. ( is it okay to have two of the exact same burners installed) ? This is what I have done so far. Opened the case and changed the ribbon cable to the two Plextor drives ( I bought two of these Plextor’s so I do have two new OEM cables at my disposal ( both are 80s) Checked all my wiring, everything is connected, no noises etc. Any suggestions from the professional folk here would be extremely appreciated. Damm I hope this can be a quick fix. ![]() System Specs Motherboard. Brand MSI. ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!
Changed the jumpers on the Plextor DVD burners to one master and one slave. Now Windows XP Pro is loading! Hey, It took the wife to set me straight on this one. She saw my post and said. " you can't have two masters in one house "
