Unable to enter SETUP
We've built our first PC for gaming. Everything seems to be working allright physically, but unable to get past initial screen which says Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP. Keyboard is OK normally (on another PC).

May need to clear the BIOS. Check to see if that board has a jumper on it to clear the BIOS. If not, shut off and unplug the PC and remove the battery on the mobo for a few minutes.

Yes it has a jumpe r- doing that now
We tried with the jumper and also by removing the battery - no difference, we're at the same spot. We get the screen showing the video info and all, then it just stays at this screen Last edited by Greg Hillhouse; 03-19-2006 at 04:48 PM. |

Thanks - I have read completely through that thread but did not find anything along the lines of wat we are experiencing. We have checked and rechecked seatings of all cards and RAM, have removed one of the RAM chips and tried with just one installed and no difference. Just get to the display to press F1 or DEL and nothing responds. Your input is appreciated.

Well...........we had the keyboard plugged into the wrong port. Now we are having trouble getting past the setup for the hard drive. Seems they didn't tell us at the store we need a $1.99 power adapter from 4-pin to 15-pin for the Maxtor hard drive. We're on hold until we can get down and buy the adapter.

If your power supply doesn't HAVE a 15 pin SATA connector, I doubt it's got the specs to run a SLI board and a 6800GS. Aspire power supplies are not quality units. You need a true 24 pin unit for that motherboard.

No way to get around it if you have to install SATA drivers during the Windows install. Floppy is required.
