sugest video card for Soyo MOBO
I'm fairly new, so go easy on me. I have:
SY-6vca MOBO 866EB Processor 2 x 256mb pc133 sdram Seagate 20 Gig 7200rpm HDD 350watt ATX power None of these parts are in a case yet. I have tested all parts and they do work independently of each other. Looking to buy a video card. I'm thinking about 128mb. Should I go ATI or NVIDIA? I'm open to all suggestions. |

I personally have converted over to ATI after several years of building AMD/NVIDIA, now I have 2 INTEL/ATI PC's here in my house, I am finding that although I spent a bit more, it was worth it and they are trouble free, but of course I was also using cheaper VIA chipset boards for my AMD builds, now I have both Intel boxxs running intel chipset boards also, and they are rock solid I must say..

How about 50 bucks and get a NEW true DirectX 9 card out of the deal?

Nice card. Right price range. But isn't that overkill? I mean the Fsb on this MOBO is only 133 with agp 4x. And it is only sdram. Do you think the rest of the system will handle/ support that kind of video card well enough?

It's the best shot to try to do any kind of gaming on it. That's still a very entry level card. As long as it's AGP4x, the card is compatible and you only need a 300 watt PSU to run it comfortably.

Well I don't think I'll find better for the money. New card and It also supports XP.
I hadn't decided if I was loading '98 or XP. I've saved the page to my favorites. I'll probably go with that card unless I get better suggestions. Thanks, I really hadn't looked at any new cards since my budget is so low. Never would have thought to go new. |
