About to start buying will this work?
ok, i have compiled a list of parts that i am about to start buying, but this is my first build and i just want a final review from the pros. i wanted to know if all this stuff will be compatable, and if you have any suggestions on what i should do please tell me. Thanks (please bear in mind that this is suppost to be a top of the line gaming computer.) ((am i forgeting anything?))

You've chosen some very high end parts there, so please don't use the power supply that comes in that case. You can't get a quality PSU for $24, let alone a case + PSU combo.
The Antec Truepower II 550w is a popular, good value power supply...you'll need that sort of wattage to power those parts. If that case has an intake fan, and exhaust, then air cooling should be fine. Best thing to do would be to check your system temperatures after the system is built; then re-evaluate if they are too high. Apart from the powersupply, you've got a good selection there. That'll be a very powerful computer. Oh, and if you want decent sound, don't use speakers built into a monitor. FK

ok thanks man, whats a high temperature for a computer? and i am getting standalone speakers that came out wrong. ill revise that statement. anbody else have any comments? what do you think about that RAM? is that corsair xms worth the money?

For an AMD CPU, I'd say you want to be keeping below 40 Celcius idle, and perhaps 55 under load.
For the case temperature, you probably want things to stay below 40 I'd stick with the Value Select RAM, Pro memory is only needed if you're seriously into overclocking - and that's a very powerful system at stock speeds. FK |
