shock on new build
right after installing a new video card on a pc i built about a week ago, i closed it up and ran it for a while, and did what i normally do. i reached to adjust somthing on my speaker and i got a huge shock from the case of the pc, then the internal speaker started beeping (i think it was the speaker mounted on the case, which is funny cuz its not plugged in.) and a light inside the pc, i still dont cant find where, started blinking.
i turned off the pc immedietly, and then rebooted, and now its running fine....but i heard that when you shock a part of ur pc it takes a while to stop working. Can a shock from the case hurt any interior components? thanks for the help |

Did you install stand-offs in all the proper places? It wouldn't hurt to take the motherboard out and double check. Also see if any the connectors from the power supply have a bit of wire touching the case. Electricity going through the case is never a good thing.

definitely make sure all those standoff's are correct. as blue said, electricity going throug the case is never a good thing, and going through your body isn't either. It could have also just been static build up (i'm in new york and its been so cold and dry lately there is soooo much static "in the air.") definitely something to watch out for with your computer, and at the gas station!
