Chipset driver

OK i've been posting at 3 different forums, can't get a useful reply to save my life.

So lets take a step back one second, i'm in Safe mode, mobo freezes can't load XP right now. I'm trying to install a new chipset driver, I'm given the driver and the driver disk, what do i do? When i open the driver in safe mode it only reads the file as a .RAR file, how or where do i put the file in order for it to run? And no their aren't any instructions i can find in any manual or at the manufacturers website that can help me.

it is a 30 meg file, if that helps....

Could you list your hardware parts please?

What happens when you put in the Motherboard CD?

AMD 64 3700
ASUS A8N5X
1 gig ddr400 ram (Patriot)
100 gig Maxtor Diamonback HDD
HP DVDRW drive
FX 7900 GT PCIE

And for boot the motherboard cd gives you a bunch of option to make boot disk or raid drivers, when in windows it allows you to install chipset drivers and components, however the one issue i have is that Asus Update will not read my board as a Asus board and will not install, mentioning some wierd NT problem.

as i posted earlier in a different thread, i've done all the standard stuff i can think of. XP just will not load, but i'm good in safe mode, so i'm assuming its got to be some kind of driver that i need.

Also the XP is using SP2

Please don't post threads all over the forums for this problem. Please provide links to the other threads so we can see the whole story. It is a LOT easier to provide competent help if all the data is in ONE thread.
