Help me choose a case for my first build
A) ASPIRE X-Plorer
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144102 B) ASPIRE X-Cruise http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144151 C) Thermaltake Tsunami http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133132 D) Antec Lifestyle Sonata II http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129155 I know I will have to buy a PSU for all but D. I know the Sonata is a good deal. I just think that since I am going to all this trouble to build a computer (instead of calling Dell) I should get something with a little more personality. What do you think??? Thanks! :-) |

I'd also go for the Sonata. If you'd prefer a more distinctive case, then get the Thermaltake Tsunami, but make sure you choose a quality power supply to go in it.

The Sonata II not only provides a quality power supply but it's unique design is focused on noise reduction. If you plan to OC and add fans, go with one of the other three but if you want a top quality case that runs nearly silent, choose the Sonata II. I have two of the original Sonata's and two more of the Sonata II. They are a little tight to work in so patience is required when building. And whichever case you buy, READ the manual before you start assembly.

So you think having pretty lights will get old fast?
What if I promise to buy an Antec PSU??? :-) I really do appreciate all of your help. I’m about ready to spend my $1000 at NewEgg and order my first build. I’m confident you will approve of my purchases since they have come from reading everything on this site. But I have to make this case decision… I still have to make my LCD decision too. I’m really worried about NewEgg’s policy of 8 dead pixels. I don’t think I could live with 8 dead pixels. |

I'm getting an X-Plorer. To me, the Thermal take looks a little too much like a refridgerator, the Sonata is kind of expensive and dull, and the guages on the front of the X-Cruise look kind of retro... Just so you know btw, the X-Plorer case is really much bigger than it looks. I went to Fry's to see what it looks like in RL before I actually order it on Newegg, and it's surprisingly big, but still pretty cool. I'm not sure about the rest though.

Did you check out the Tai Chi? I chose it for my first build for one because I wasn't on a tight budget, and because I was advised to get one that was roomy. I like the looks. Lots of options for the future.
