Hi guys. I am in need of help. My pc just died. It's been crumbling for awhile, but I didn't think it will die on me this fast. ( I'm pretty sure its the Mobo. ) I've been thinking of building a new pc myself. So here I am. Help/suggestions would be highly appreciated.
I need a pretty fast pc with good speed for multitasking. I will be using various programs for work. I also play games and watch movies on my pc. Budget - $1200. I don't need monitor, mouse, or keyboard. I have softwares and OS already. CPU - I'd like a dual-core AMD. I'm considering this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103562 Mainboard - No idea here. Please suggest ones that will support the CPU, and have some room for upgrading. RAM - 2 GB. I will not do overclocking. How's this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145579 Video card - My old one was ATI, and I liked it. So I'll go with ATI. Please suggest one that's good and not very pricey. There's one thing though. I'm thinking of playing PS2 games on my pc. That means I need some S-Video IN slots. Should I get one of those All-in-wonder cards. Or get "good card + tv tuner"? ( I don't really have concrete knowledge on this. ) Hard drive - A new one for the main drive. I have my slow, old ones for storage. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144160 DVD-burner - The old one will do. Case - I need one with plenty of room to maneuver, and with good cooling. I have no preference on how it looks. Suggestions, please? ![]() PSU - I probably need a new one? Cooling system(?) - I'm not sure if I will need this for the new build, but I'm a bit concerned about the noise. My old CPU was Athlon 2400+, and the temperature was usually a bit high. Its fan drove me crazy sometimes. What about the dual core I choose? I think that's about what I need. Thank you very much.

Welcome to PCMech.
The choices you made are good ones. You may want to look at a larger hard drive though, 74GB will fill up quick. If you do, look at one with a 16MB Cache. The current sweet spot is the 250GBs. For motherboards, you can't miss with the Asus A8N5X. Video card wise, look at the X1900 series from ATI. I believe the best setup is to skip the AIWs and use the above card with a TV Tuner. I believe Happauge are good choices, but I'll let someone else recommend one. I like Antec cases and power supplies. I would pick up a 500watt. As for cooling, stick with the retail unit. The chip will come with a HSF that will work just fine.
