NEW BUILD--No Hard Drive?

Put together new pc and trying to load XP-OS. When I look at the BIOS I see Serial ATA 1 Primary CHannel is recognized. When I try to install OS it tells me I have no hard drive. Is there a pre-installation I need to perform on hard drive before installing OS?

Does your computer detect the floppy drive? (does it make noise, can you hear the drive reading the disk, etc?)

Thanks

No noise from floppy. (Does not seem to be recognized).
Looking around on BIOS, but the best I can see is that i select the size, e.g. 1.44 MB.
I set up sequence for boot to check floppy first, inserted a bootable floppy, and left CD drive empty. Is there something more to do in bios or MB?

Update

Purchased New Floppy, although I think the issue may have been cables not connected correctly--light was permanently on, with no disk. FLOPPY IS NOW FOUND!
Still have problems,

BIOS READS:
Primary IDE Master [SONY]
Primary IDE Slave [Plextor DVDR]
Secondary IDE Master [Not Detected]
Secondary IDE Slave [Not Detected]
SERIAL-ATA 1 Primary Channel [ST3120827AS]
When I perform the XP install, I press [F6], then when I can the option I choose "S", and select from FLOPPY: Silicon Image SiI 3132 SATALink Controller for Windows XP/Server 2003. When that is complete I come back to the install screen and it confirms it will load support for the following mass storage device(s), from what I chose above. It continues along and the comes to a screen that has 3 options, one of which is, "To Setup Windows XP now, press ENTER." Which I choose. I then get the following error, "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Setup can not continue, to quit Setup, press F3. What I am doing wrong here????

Hi

floppy drive light staying on usually means cable is wrong way round, had a look at the seagate site and your drive model indicates that you have to download the discwizard2003 and run that to install your drive. heres a link

Got XP Loaded and hard drive recognized. I made sure I had anything mentioning RAID as disabled. Everything worked then. I had tried the SEAGATE thing earlier. It is not much help
