Hard Drive Interfaces?

Interface compatibility?

Hey guys!

I am gong to start a new build and have a question about HD interfaces.

With a new scratch built, do I need to do anything or purchase anything different\special with any of these three Hard Drive interfaces using XP and a late model Pent D MOB?

Should I stick with one over the other etc?

I would imagine I need the correct IDE cables for each.

ATA 100, 133, and 150

When you're starting with a new, Retail mobo, it will come with all the necessary cables for hard drive connection. You should get SATA cables and an 80 wire IDE cable as well as one 40 wire IDE for the CD drives. SATA is becoming the standard so plan on a SATA hdd.

Seagate is my first choice. Western Digital is a close second. Maxtor is now owned by Seagate and although others may have tested well recently, I don't trust Hitachi or Samsung.
