Check your motherboard manual or download a PDF of the manual from the motherboard manufacturers website.

no luck. i bought the board retail brand new, with all the documentation.

unfortunately, intel just gave a huge poster with pictures and numbers, but no text. the only text the manual has is to explain the beep codes.

is it possible for a motherboard not to have a pc speaker connection? no right?

Your Intel motherboard may already have a small round piezo speaker already built on it. Check your motherboard for a small black cylindrical object that has a tiny hole on the top...that's the piezo speaker.

cricket -- is it weird that i don't hear any beeps, yet i'm able to boot to windows, and reboot, and seemingly run the pc normally?

With newer motherboards you may not get that one good POST beep during boot up and just get BIOS beeps when there is a problem. If the computer is running okay you probably have nothing to worry about.

Intel boards have a piezo speaker and do not have headers for a case speaker.
