Can't find a thread

I just ordered my parts for a new, first-time, build and I recall reading a while back where someone described what to do before assembling everything in the case. He talked about placing the Mobo on its box and hooking up some ram, the PSU, and some other components to check to make sure everything was working prior to getting it all into the case. Can anyone help me find that thread, or maybe even go as far as to write up a little tutorial for me?

Thanks

I think you may be referring to the thread on what to do if you have problems. It is here: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409
