First build issues.
Just when I thought it was working correctly......
Hello people! Had my first build up and running fine with these specs: * Asus a8n-sli premium motherboard * 2 western digital caviar re wd2500yd 250 gb 7200 rpm serial ata150 * amd athlon 64 x2 4200 manchester * eVGA 7900gt 256-p2-n565 * ocz titanium 2 gb ddr 400 memory * antec sonata 2 case with 450 w power supply * floppy and a dvd burner * XP home edition I installed all the drivers and everything worked fine. I then went to windows update and began to download the 40 some odd updates I needed. I walked away from the screen for 10 minute and when I came back .... BANG all dead. A blue screen of death saying that windows was shut down to protect damage to it. Memory dump was comencing ... and it was frozen. Now when I try to boot the computer it makes it right up to the point the windows logo should come up, but stays on a black screen. I am running a RAID1 which is stated as being healthy during the system messages during boot. All seems well in the bios section, but I am no expert. Any suggestions? I am starting to look for ceiling fixtures that would hold my weight! Thanks in advance! jim |

Thanks for the info. I found an error on there that matched mine. I am hoping I found the heart of the problem. Without thinking, I installed my video card in the slot reserved for SLI mode with an identical card. I am hoping this was the heart of the IRQ error (among others!) on my screen. The wierd part is that it not only crashed windows, windows won't even boot back up. I'm going to re-install and go from there. Thanks for the help!
