looking for dual processor build info
anyone know a good resource for building a dual processor (2 separate processors, not one dual core unit) pc?
is it just like building a "regular" pc, or are there other considerations, such as OS? i am looking to do a build using two dual core processors. if anyone can point me to some sort of guide, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

A couple of things to keep in mind is that dual CPU mobos require PSUs made for the dual CPUs(server PSU). Also, would need XP Pro, XP Home doesn't support dualies. Will need to make sure of the type of ram: registered/ECC or non ECC. Aside from these things the rest is pretty much like a regular PC.

What are you planning to use this PC for?? Yes you need an OS that will recognize dual CPU's and also if your not going to run any apps that can utilize them, then you may be putting you money in the wrong place, for instance if it's going to be a gaming rig then stick to 1 good high end motherboard and cpu and ram and put that extra money towards the vid card.. Generally speaking if it's not going to be a server with a server OS then you may be better off to just put the extra cash into cpu, mobo, ram, and vid card.
