Here's something to get you started:

Antec Sonata II 450W
ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700CFBOX - Retail
SAPPHIRE 100154SR Radeon X1800XT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS1GBKIT400 - Retail
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model SHW160P6S05 - OEM
Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2 - OEM

This assumes you don't mind going with AMD processors. If you rather have an Intel system, it can be adjusted.

Based on www.newegg.com prices, it's a tad under $1000

Your links are fine, those are the correct components.

The system blue detailed is MUCH better than your game's minimum requirements, the graphics card is no exception to that.

It might be a good idea to get a floppy drive; they're generally not needed for installation, but can be useful for diagnostics if anything goes wrong.

A forum note, please edit your posts rather than triple posting in future.

Basically, the system Blue recommended is about as good as you can get at this point. There are a few better options, but the cost would skyrocket. This comp should make all current games look great, if not fantastic.

The 450W is the peak power draw of the power supply. The Antec Sonata II is a snazzy looking case and comes included with a power supply so you don't have to buy a case and a PSU separately. Antec is a reputable PSU vendor so you shouldn't have any problems there.

But to answer your question directly, yes, the system recommended to you is WAY WAAAAY better than the game's recommended specs. Since those are recommended and not "minimumum" specs, I assume that you *should* be able to play your games on max, or close to it.

Floppy drives are cheap and good to have around, just in case. I bought a floppy for my system three years ago, and haven't used it except to test that it works. It now lives under my bed. If you need a floppy in the future, you can always order one or run to the nearest store to pick one up.

Yeah, it looks like you've got the links right.

You don't *have* to use that case...you can look around on Newegg to find something else you might like better. Just don't use the junk power supplies that tend to come with cases. Antec is one of the few exceptions to that rule though... I've recommended that one since it's a nice case and a good power supply for a very good price. The power supply is probably a $60 one and if the case was sold without the power supply it would probably be around the same price...

This system should handle any game out there without a problem at max settings. Your game says an AMD XP 2000+ - this one has an Athlon 64 3700+ - much faster. The X1800XT is probably comprable to a GeForce 7900GT or so. You've got the 1 gig of RAM, plenty of hard drive space (and a fast hard drive) and a DVD drive if you need that for the Collectors edition.
