I have been having a problem and I dont know what the problem is, I just built my first computer and all the parts are new. The situation however is the monitor wont respond. Everything else powers up, lights show up on floppy and dvd drives and all my fans including the processor fan are working fine. The lights blink once on the keyboard when I push the power button and then shuts off. The optical mouse light stays constant.
I am using the following: Soltek (865pro) 775 mobo Radeon 9550 (256mb) video card Intel P4 3.00GHz 800MHz 1MB Socket 775 CPU 160 Gb hard drive Can Anyone help me with this issue? |

VGA Error on first build
I just assembled a new box with a Biostar TForce 6100 MOBO and an AMD Sempron 3100+ CPU. Same problem as above. All the fans run, memory checks out, drives spin, etc. but no monitor. One of the LEDs on the motherboard (LED_1) turns off just after startup and according to the manual, that indicates a VGA error. Unfortunately the manual does not tell what to do in that case. The video card is built-in to the MOBO, and the only thing I can think to try is to put a card in one of the vacant slots and try that. There are no jumpers to enable/disable the internal video card.
Any other thoughts before I ask for an RMA? Yes, I did go through the steps suggested above, which are helpful in diagnosing the problem, but not solving it in some cases. |

Puck: Please don't hijack this thread, start a new one instead.
Jamaicanblud: Definitely follow the steps in the thread Makeyourself2012 linked to. Also check you've connected the 4-pin Aux power connector; forgetting it is a common cause of no display. It's in addition to the main 24-pin power connector, and is usually near the CPU socket. FK

Not a Hijack, a search for resolution
Sure, because what we need is more threads with similar questions and the link to the basic troubleshooting steps and NO RESOLUTION. I am not seeking a solution to my problem here, but the resolution to the one posted originally.

You may have followed the steps in the troubleshooting thread, but the original poster has not, and it may well solve their problem. It looks more likely that you have defective hardware. FK |

I tried doing everything you said and still it did not work. I even went as far as buying another motherboard and video card, however nothing happened.
I just read a thread that stated that there is a strong possibilty that there is not enough power going to the mobo to power the video card. Do you think this could be the problem? I am using a Okia 450W Power Supply. Here is the thread: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic41072.html Last edited by Jamaicanblud; 04-19-2006 at 01:42 PM. |

Have you connected the 4-pin alternate power supply for the motherboard?

Have you checked your memory in another computer? When you try to start your new build, do you hear any beeps and if so, what are they? It could be the power suppy or bad memory or bad motherboard or processor. Good luck in the fix.

You may want to try another compatible power supply with your new computer or try the OKIA in another computer just to see if it'll power the other computer properly.
450 watts is more than enough power for your computer but the OKIA brand isn't exactly high quality and it may not be functioning properly. Also, did you remove the motherboard from the case yet? A motherboard shorting/grounding out to the case will give you the exact symptom you're seeing...the computer seems to be running but you get nothing on the monitor. Cricket

Got it to work Finally....
I checked It out...and all along all I had to do was change the memory...What I realized was the memory was working in one computer but it wasn't working in my newly built computer. I guess it was just not compatible with the mobo. Now everything powers up and I am able to install the OS... So I guess my problem is solved. Thanks guys...really appreciate everyone's help
