The pc's for gaming, so how will the monitor do for gaming? I have several problems with monitors and such in general too... I notice everyone talks about fps and refresh rates, and ghosting. However, for some reason as far as I know I have NEVER seen ghosting, and after playing games for years, I still can't tell the difference between 25fps and 60fps... Everything above 25 or so seems about the same for me... I think some people say you need 8ms in a display for it to be used for gaming, but then there was also an article at FiringSquad.com that said since different companies use different conditions to measure the ms, that it doesn't really matter. So I'm not sure about this. The article at FiringSquad did say that DVI input is important, and this monitor has this....so yea, would this one do? And is there anyway for me to view the difference between dif fps rates? Like some program or something that can show the same thing in different fps? And another question, how often or when does Newegg typically restock? Or is it different for all items and such... Cause right now my motherboard and graphics card are sold out...and I finally have the money to order... I'd like to recieve the parts before spring break is over and I have to go back to school...so it'd be nice if the parts were back in stock soon.. Also, when I look at all the Athlon 64 X2 processors, they seem really similar, but the 3800+ is hundreds of dollars cheaper, which would be great. Is there any big difference? I notice the 3800+ has 2.0Ghz while the 4400+ has 2.2Ghz, and the 4400+ has 2x1MB cache while the 3800+ has 2x512kb... Is that a big difference? How will that even affect performance? edit: oh uh, I actually calculated it just now..$163 difference..so would it be worth it to go with the 4400+? Oh, and should I get a floppy drive? Is there any reason that it's necessary like to get the PC working..? Cause I have no use for it unless it's needed to get the PC working somehow. Looks like a pretty good build. That Samsung looks fine... basically anything 1600x1200 and has a decent refresh rate seems great to me. And DVI is good for quality, especially on high resolutions.
As for the processors, if you can afford it comfortably, I'd say get the 4400. If you're tight on a budget (which it doesn't appear to be), then get the 3800. They're both great, but you'd notice the difference with the 4400 for gaming. Newegg should restock "within 2 weeks" for most items, but probably sooner if it's a popular one. You might want to order the available stuff now and the others as soon as they're back in stock. Unfortunately you will probably need a floppy for driver installations. If you can use an old one from another computer, great. If not, the $9 is worth being able to actually get the system working. Oh, and don't forget the OS if you don't already have one. XP Pro is a must for gaming. |

I'll get that floppy drive then...anyways, I want to use the PC as a tv to replace the tv in my room, so I need a tv tuner.. can anyone recommend one? I'd like it to have composite and s-video inputs, and a remote control... and be able to record tv, etc. I think that's kind of standard for tv tuners though.. Also, does the processor come with a heatsink/fan already? Edit: Oh, uh I just realized that the dvd burner I picked out doesn't have lightscribe, so I think I'll get: LITE-ON Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache ATAPI/E-IDE DVD Burner With LightScribe - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...15#DetailSpecs Is that a good one? Also, I noticed Dell has a 20.1" LCD display. It seems about the same though slightly cheaper... So should I get that instead? It's the one that Puma has. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/P...=&refurbished= Last edited by flameshad0w; 04-11-2006 at 06:36 PM. |
